combat this vile criminal activity.
And as always, we continue to
aggressively prosecute individuals
who are producing, distributing,
or possessing child sexual abuse
material. This is never a victimless
crime. Unfortunately, crimes rooted
in anti-Semitism and other forms
of hatred are on the rise. Last year,
I personally prosecuted a neo-Nazi
who sent Holocaust-related death
threats to a local rabbi and Rep.
Esther Panitch, the only Jewish
member of the Georgia House of
Representatives. Why did he target
these women? Because they spoke
out in support of House Bill 30— a
state law that defines antisemitism.
The women received the death
threats immediately after Gov.
Brian Kemp signed the bill into
law. At trial, the jury rejected the
neo-Nazi’s First Amendment-protected speech defense. He received
the statutory maximum sentence,
and others should expect the same
if they threaten violence because of
race or religion.
It is a profound privilege to
fight for justice on behalf of the two
million people living in the Middle
District of Georgia. The federal
prosecutors in this office are working day and night to protect our
communities and their efforts are
making a real difference in the fight
to keep our communities safe.
Defending the American way of
life is worth it.
