GEORGIA’S “MUSEUM CITY”
Another of those large employers is more of a newcomer on
the scene. It is Georgia Museums,
Inc., a non-profit that prides itself
on providing the communities of
Georgia and the Southeast with the
highest level of museum experience. Georgia Museums is a family of museums that includes the
Booth Western Art Museum, Tellus
Science Museum, and the newest
edition, the Savoy Automobile Museum. This little conglomerate, and
the Bartow History Museum, have
led to Cartersville becoming known
as Georgia’s “Museum City.”
The Savoy Automobile Museum
has been open for five years and has
quickly become well-known in the
car culture world. For the third year
in a row, Savoy was voted as the
“Best Attraction for Car Lovers in
America” by the USA Today 10 Best
Readers’ Choice Awards. The Savoy
offers something for both motorheads and fans of history— recent

exhibits have included the evolution
of the Jeep from a wartime vehicle
for soldiers to the evolution of NASCAR, beginning as some racing fun
for moonshiners to the billion-dollar
business it is today. The museum
also hosts regular car shows and
educational programs.

Automobile Museum aims to

rotating galleries Savoy showcases
automobiles of different makes,
models, and eras. This world-class
museum and showgrounds sits on
approximately 35 acres in Cartersville, GA just off I-75. Visitors
will be met with an assortment of
automobiles and a special curated
collection of art.
