“During my three years as president, the Women’s College division
of the university has seen the largest growth of any sector, with a 21
percent increase in students since
the fall of 2023,” said Barnett. “The
incoming class for the fall of 2026
is trending to continue that growth
pattern. Our decision and commitment to offer high-quality experiences and maintain a Women’s College
option are affirmed by the responses from prospective students who
demonstrate a desire to join this
type of collegiate experience.”
Barnett’s background leading
the financials for the institution
have helped to give him a business
or analytical shape to his leadership that has helped Brenau to stay
on sure footing going forward.
“Among the core initiatives that
I am currently focused on are assessment of the university mission
and its relevance in the current climate. That includes analysis of each
college’s programs and instructional
formats for today’s learners and
environment, and analysis of community workforce needs to ensure
university programs are strategically meeting them,” the president
says. “As a private university, our
mission is the key factor in driving
our decisions. In higher education,
it is common to review mission
statements with shareholders at
least once every decade. My appointment as president aligned with
this decennial cycle. Over the past
18 months, I have facilitated conversations with shareholders about our
core values and mission statement
to ensure affirmation of both.”
Like many smaller schools that
have developed strong relationships with the local community,
