which state officials are working to
bolster Georgia’s healthcare system—
and the pivotal role that technical
schools play in filling desperately
needed, high-paying nursing jobs.

it by preparing more nurses, especially in rural and underserved areas,”
said USG Chancellor Sonny Perdue,
following the agreement’s announce-

making it easier for students to grow
their skills. It’s a smart investment
that drives student success, expands
access to care, and builds a more
prosperous Georgia.”
That articulation agreement is a
major win for colleges like Columbus
Tech, where the Division of Health
Sciences & Nursing is the largest
department at the school. At a time
when many hospitals— particularly in
rural communities— are facing serious
staffing issues, TCSG Commissioner

list is cybersecurity. With Atlanta
positioned as a major regional tech
hub and Augusta as home of the Georgia Cyber Center and the U.S. Army
Cyber Command and Cyber School of
Excellence at Fort Gordon, our state is
uniquely situated within an industry
whose demand and importance is
growing by the day.
The city of Statesboro, about
an hour outside of Savannah, isn’t
quite a tech hub on that level. But at
Ogeechee Technical College (OTC), a
