MARK AND SANDI DIEHL
The grapes cultivated at
Stonewall produce its expertly
handcrafted wines. Carefully
selected European grapes thrive
in the sunny days and cool nights
of the growing season in Northeast Georgia. Current varietals
on property include Malbec, Cab
Franc, Petit Manseng, Traminette,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot,
Tannat, Semillon, and Tocai Friulano. Mark Diehl started making
homemade wine in 2007, and his
passion for winemaking is evident in the award-winning wines
he produces at Stonewall Creek.
“Eight years in, I’m still
amazed by what this chapter has
become. Stonewall Creek grew
from a home winemaking passion
into an estate-grown winery and
gathering place, where friendships deepen and milestones
are celebrated,” said
Sandi. “We’ve been
focused on creating
memorable experiences here, especially
since opening our
new event space. We
host wine dinners,
pasta-making classes, volunteer harvest
days and our biggest
celebration—our annual Harvest
Stomp in September.”
“We made the leap in 2018,
and the land has taught us to pay
attention—to seasons, to people
and to gratitude. We’re excited
to keep growing and welcoming
new faces, while also carving out
time to travel again (Italy is still
high on my list). But my favorite
moments are the simplest: a table
of friends, a shared laugh and a
glass poured with gratitude.”
