years had been funded and completed involving the clearing of

berth capacity and the addition
of a new container terminal.
Furthermore, I was told the

from eight to 18, doubling Savannah’s rail capacity to 2 million
containers per year.
Millions of dollars in federal
grants have helped fund new rail

Chief Communications Officer
Tom Boyd further explained that
the GPA and its employees work
with International Longshoremen’s Association members who
load and unload cargo. “You can
see there’s a lot of moving parts,”
Boyd said, “We’re true partners in
making this engine work.”
In many ways, Lynch is the

blend federal and port-generated
money.
Last year was the second
busiest year ever, moving nearly 5.7 million 20-foot equivalent
container units of cargo. As the
fastest port in the country for ship
to rail, moving containers in only
22 hours, shippers recognize the
value in using the ports.
