One of those roads is Kimball
Bridge Road, which just saw the completion of a multi-million dollar improvement. The Kimball Bridge Road
Corridor Multimodal Gap Connection,
helped along by a $1.1 million investment by True North 400, completed
the multimodal connection
along Kimball Bridge Road
after a widening project and
bridge replacement from
the City of Alpharetta and
the Georgia Department of
Transportation.
“This connection was
needed following the city
and state’s completed projects to give residents, employees and visitors safe mobility options along Kimball Bridge
Road. This project is exactly where
True North 400 excels. We work to
connect funds, resources and people
to improve the North Fulton community,” said Kristin Winzeler, executive
director of True North 400.
Other CIDs: fostering growth
The CIDs highlighted above are
just a small sample of the projects
and issues being addressed by these
groups across the region. Those of
us who live in the Atlanta metro region should remember how blessed
we are to live in a dynamic
region, with tremendous
economic opportunity and
growth. At the Sugarloaf
CID, its sports showcase at
Gas South Arena continues
throughout the year featuring hockey from the Atlanta
Gladiators, professional
lacrosse from the Georgia
Swarm and pro volleyball
from the Atlanta Vibe.
Over in Norcross, a nearly mile
long sidewalk connector project by
the Gateway85 CID connects Jimmy
Carter Boulevard to Nancy Hanks
Drive. For Ole Mexican Foods and
for its more than 1,400 employees—
many of whom rely on public tran-
sit— the new connection has made
a big difference. Down the road in
Tucker is a good reminder that these
CIDs exist for the benefit of their
members. Tucker Summit CID was
proud to announce last year that one
of its members, the Tucker Brewing
Company, earned a prestigious silver
medal at the U.S. Open Beer Championship. The Southern Heaven
Hefeweizen received the distinction
for the German Hefeweizen category, competing against thousands of
entries across the country.
Among the highest profile
projects in the hopper for a metro
Atlanta CID is the redevelopment of
the old Gwinnett Place Mall space,
a close collaboration between the
Gwinnett Place CID and Gwinnett
County. No doubt by this time next
year, there will be other exciting
news and another success story for a
metro Atlanta CID.
