Indeed, Rowen is destined
to live and breathe convergence.
Innovators are already connecting
and Rowen-sponsored conferences,
some of which this writer has
attended, have brought together
leaders and influencers from across
industries to network and cement
connections.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Rowen leaders have been
working hard to support Georgia
on its broader economic development efforts. For example, Rowen
staff have been traveling with the
Georgia Department of Economic
Development, the Metro Atlanta
Chamber and others for meetings
and conferences in other states and
foreign countries.
These efforts are beginning to
pay off, especially as previously
mentioned at the outset with UCB’s
big announcement that it is Rowen’s first tenant.
Taco van Tiel, the head of
UCB in the U.S., tells James that

“Rowen and Gwinnett County
were a compelling choice for
UCB’s expansion because it aligns
with our focus on building for
long-term innovation and growth
in the U.S. With UCB’s U.S. headquarters already in the Atlanta
area, the company has seen firsthand the strength of Georgia’s
growing life sciences ecosystem.
Rowen stood out as a strong, local
partner with a clear vision for
advancing research, sustainable
manufacturing, and long-term
community development, creating an environment designed to
support innovation at scale.”
“As we execute on our strategy
of growth,” van Tiel continued,
“this manufacturing site will support the commercial production
of recently approved and future
pipeline medicines, bringing them
closer to patients and representing
the full depth of our patient value
chain, from research, to development, to commercial and manufacturing operations in the U.S.”
Just as important, he emphasizes, “as UCB’s portfolio continues
to expand, investing in advanced
manufacturing capabilities in
the U.S. will be critical to ensure
reliable access for patients while
positioning the company for future
expansion.”
What’s ahead in the future?
Rowen’s leadership, as well as the
governor and everyone interested
in keeping Georgia the number one
state in which to do business, will
continue targeting the innovators,
businesses, non-profits, researchers
and others who are ready to tackle global challenges with Georgia-grown talent.
“With our partnerships established and activated, and scalable
sites open for business,” Shailendra says, “the Rowen mission is
to intensely focus on recruiting
businesses for the benefit of our
entire state.”
